Those who appreciate variety will love playing golf on Lake Wörthersee. There are 13 golf courses around Lake Wörthersee, 2 of them in Slovenia and Italy within an hour's drive.

But it's not just the quantity. The quality standard here is incomparably high - three of the courses have the "Leading Golf Course" seal of approval and the course in Moosburg has been awarded 4 stars as "superior".

This is also the best place to start your Wörthersee golf trip. The mostly spacious fairways help you find balls that have strayed, and the greens are true to the line and fair. When walking through the Pörtschach-Moosburg golf course, golfers come across interesting "water play courses" next to the old trees and must prove their strategic skills in bunker play. Caution is advised on hole 3, a 400-meter par 4 with out-of-bounds on the left and a dogleg to the right. Even better players can be happy with a bogey here. Attractive: the final chord hole 17 (a par 5 with birdie or disaster option) and hole 18 with an elevated green and a mighty bunker in front of it.

The Klagenfurt Seltenheim golf course is the greatest possible contrast. Scottish and open courses combined with an American layout (lots of water, high approaches) – most designers would have overdone this unusual mixture. Star architect Perry Dye, on the other hand, has created one of the most impressive courses in Austria, which is the venue for the European Challenge Tour every year. With a length of 6,324 meters from the back, even experienced players will work up a sweat. The most interesting is the 130-meter par 3 at hole 8. Bad shots are guaranteed to get wet, after all, it is an island green.

The Carinthian Golf Club Dellach presents itself in a classy manner. It was founded in 1927, making it the second oldest club in Austria. The most beautiful view of the lake can be seen from holes 12 and 18. Dellach's challenge lies in the combination of length and accuracy. On hole 5, for example, a powerful shot from the tee onto a fairway heavily wooded to the left and right is required to reach the green with the second shot. And hole 16 is perhaps the most exciting par 3 in Carinthia: you have to hit 180 meters over a valley and place the ball on a green that is perpendicular to the direction of play.

The Leading Golf Course Velden Köstenberg is known as "The Challenger" because the demanding but fair course challenges players of all handicap classes to give their best and to be happy when they can spend a successful day of golf with pars and birdies. If the challenge turns out in the course's favor, the extraordinary quality of the facility invites you to try again. The greens are fast, true to the line and have some tricky breaks. The new championship tee on hole 5 turns the par 5 into another signature hole. The 552 m long fairway stretches over a pond and along a biotope to a green that is not easy to play. A great drive on hole 10 is twice as much fun, as the green is far below the tee.
