From Salzburg via Eugendorf to Bad Ischl, the narrow-gauge steam railway "Ischlerbahn" ran from 1893 to 1957. Today, the 59-kilometer section of the Salzkammergut cycle route runs along the old track. With its gentle inclines, this part passes a picture-book mix of beautiful sights, lovely alpine foothills, rugged mountains, and deep blue lakes. Even the Emperor valued the journey by train to Bad Ischl, and many summer holidaymakers followed his example. So today you can almost cycle in the Emperor's footsteps. Of course, no tracks are visible today, but instead a well-developed and signposted cycle path.
From Eugendorf Church, follow the directions for the "Salzkammergut cycle route" to Bad Ischl.
Sunscreen, drinks, and a snack for energy, rain protection, and a bike helmet.
The Scharflinger Höhe between Mondsee and Wolfgangsee gains 120 meters in altitude over two kilometers and is thus the toughest section of the path. Here, stamina or an eBike is required.
Take bus line 130 or 140 from Salzburg main station to Eugendorf Church. From Bad Ischl return with line 150 to Salzburg-Gnigl and then line 140 back to Eugendorf.

Once in Bad Ischl, a visit to the Zauner pastry shop is worthwhile for delicious pastries and coffee specialties.
