The Bellinzona – Carì stage is a short but highly demanding route, set within the landscapes of the Canton of Ticino. With around 113 km and nearly 3,000 metres of elevation gain, it represents an intense...
The stage starts in Bellinzona, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its castles, before heading north along the valley floor. After a relatively smooth start, the route becomes more challenging with a circuit in the Tre Valli region, where riders tackle the climbs to Torre and Leontica twice: short but demanding ascents that test even well-trained cyclists.
After completing the circuit, the route continues towards the Leventina Valley, following a steady climb up to Faido and leading into the decisive moment of the stage: the final ascent to Carì. The last 12 kilometres are entirely uphill, with consistent but demanding gradients, reaching the mountain resort at 1,644 metres above sea level.
This stage stands out for its compact yet intense character: a true alpine experience alternating rideable sections with decisive climbs, crossing authentic landscapes of vineyards, forests and mountain villages. Perfect for cyclists who want to challenge themselves on a Giro d’Italia route and enjoy a unique sporting experience in the heart of Ticino.
