3-variations hike: Abtenau-Schwaighofbrücke to Rußbach, Goasau or Gosausee (lake)

At the Schwaighofbrücke bus stop, turn right in the direction of the riding stable. At the riding stable, turn left into the opposite road and follow the asphalt road for approx. 4 km to the "Gschwandt" farmer. There you continue on the forest path 24 over the Klausgraben over the Buchbergriedel 24 / 47. At the crossroads with the stamp station you keep left and walk in the direction of Edtalm (1338m). From there you can now choose 3 variants down into the valley:

Variant 1: RUSSBACH HORNSPITZ

At the Edtalm, turn left onto hiking trail 47c, where you meet the forest road after 2km. Now follow the forest path for about 1km and you will reach the Hornspitz gondola station. Descent into the valley with the Hornbahn - the valley station is 50m from the bus stop.

Variant 2: GOSAU centre

At the Edtalm take trail 50c for about 200m and then turn left onto the Salzalpenstein or 46a/611 steadily downhill into the valley (about 8km) to Gosau centre (780m). About halfway along the trail you pass the Zwieselbergbahn cable car. In the centre of Gosau the bus returns to Abtenau.

Variant 3: first Gosau lake

Pass the Edtalm and take trail 50c/46 in the direction of Zwieslalmhöhe (1555m), but at the turn-off to the Zwieselalmhütte stay on the trail and follow trail 49. Now hike to the Gablonzer hut (1522m) and enjoy the valley descent of the Gosaukammbahn (mountain railway). Wonderful views of the Gosausee with the Dachstein massif in the background are guaranteed. From the stop at first Gosau lake you can take the hiking bus back to Abtenau.

Sturdy shoes, walking sticks are recommended

Via Tauernautobahn A10 exit Golling direction Abtenau. To Abtenau to the free public car park Ost. Local bus stop 2 min walk.

In Abtenau take Postbus 470 in the direction of Russbach to the Schwaighofbrücke bus stop.
