This hike is ideal for families (not suitable for strollers), leisure walkers, and anyone who would like to explore Filzmoos at a relaxed pace on foot. Thanks to the gentle incline, the route is easy to walk and perfect for a leisurely stroll. Several benches along the trail invite visitors to rest and enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings. The Village Loop combines nature, alpine village charm, and stunning panoramic views into a relaxing hiking experience for all ages.

A good backpack is helpful, and for routes in alpine terrain, a cap, gloves, a good jacket, and pants are part of the basic equipment. Good waterproof shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and sufficient drinks are essential. A flashlight, maps, a knife, and a small first aid kit are also included.
Available GPS data – like hiking maps – are only orientation aids, as they can never represent an exact image or the detail richness of a path in reality. Especially at danger spots, the final decision on whether and how the route continues must always be made based on local conditions.

Coming from Ramsau am Dachstein:
Roundabout - take the exit towards Neuberg - immediately after the gas station, turn left. Opposite the gas station is a public paid parking lot.
Destination stations: Eben im Pongau or Radstadt (both on the Salzburg – Bischofshofen – Schladming – Graz railway line). Regular trains (approx. every hour) depart from Salzburg main station. The trip takes about 1 hour.
Continue by bus or taxi: From Eben im Pongau or Radstadt, bus line 521 goes directly to Filzmoos, stop Ortsmitte (travel time approx. 20–30 minutes). Alternatively, taxis are available at the station.
Tip: The buses do not run very frequently – check the timetable in advance at www.oebb.at
With the Fidibus Summer: From Hotel Neubergerhof, there is the Fidibus Summer (hiking bus) that takes you from Neuberg to Filzmoos or Hinterwinkl to Filzmoos, stopping at Ortsmitte. Here is the timetable

At the Filzmoos tourist information, you can get a hiking map (Euro 5.50) or a hiking sketch (Euro 2.00) with information about this tour.
The Village Loop is especially beautiful in the early morning or evening hours, when the sun bathes the Bischofsmütze in warm light. It is also perfect for a relaxing walk after dinner or for discovering Filzmoos at a leisurely pace.
