Fitness: On just under 7 kilometers, 90 meters of elevation have to be overcome. From the Auer Bridge to Au, on the "longest" ascent over a distance of about 500 m, about 40 meters of elevation have to be overcome. The total walking time is about 2 hours and 30 minutes.
In Brief: The entire hike leads over paved or well-developed gravel paths. In the first section (about 2.5 kilometers), it gently downhill to the Auer Bridge, the lowest point of the round. After a small ascent to Au, it continues, slightly ascending, along the Wahpoint path to Scheffsnoth. From there on flat roads back to Lofer. Refreshment options can be found at the Gasthaus Antonia in Au and in the center of Lofer.
Route Highlights: Halfway through the route, you reach the district Au with the Auer chapel and the Gasthaus Antonia. On the way back, you repeatedly enjoy beautiful views of the Loferer Steinberge.
The route is part of the "Hiking with Kids" in the Salzburg Saalachtal. Duration and difficulty level are designed for children/families.
From the Lofer information office, follow the footpath along the federal road for about 300 m to the town exit towards Salzburg. From here, follow the forest path to the Auer Bridge. Continue over the bridge and keep right towards Au. 100 meters after the Gasthaus Antonia in the center of Au, turn right (those who want to pass the Auer chapel must take a short detour to the left here. The route is extended by about 700 meters.) and follow the signs towards Scheffsnoth/Lofer via the Wahpoint path. Upon reaching Scheffsnoth, turn left and shortly after right again over the meadow path past the former Gasthof Eberlwirt. After about 300 m, turn right towards the village fountain in Scheffsnoth. Here turn left and shortly afterwards right again and cross the Hubertus footbridge and the pedestrian crossing – past the middle school Lofer – back to the Lofer information office.

The Auer chapel with the Loferer Steinberge in the background is a popular photo motif. The Gasthaus Antonia invites you to stop halfway for refreshments.
