MTB Tour - Hundstein Round (Route 5)

You start at the Servicecenter Maria Alm and take the road behind the church up to the main road (B164). After about 50 meters on the federal road, you turn right to cross the Urslau. Immediately after the bridge, turn left and follow the path to the district of Unterberg. There you take the path that leads you past the Gasthof Christernreith, the Grießbachalm (e-bike charging station), the Lohning Alm and the Dirndlalm (e-bike charging station) up to the highest point of the route, the Statzerhaus (2117 m). From the summit of Hundstein, roll back about 200 meters on the same trail, take the first left turn and follow the "Rad&Bike Pinzgau" signs to Thumersbach. Then you cycle along the Tauern cycle path via Schloss Prielau – Maishofen – Gerling – Almdorf back to Maria Alm. On the route from Maria Alm to the Statzerhaus, the legendary uphill race "Hundstoa biag di" takes place every year.

Arrival coming from Salzburg: On the A10 motorway to Bischofshofen exit, then on the B311 towards Bischofshofen. Follow the Hochkönig federal road/B164 towards Maria Alm.
Arrival coming from Innsbruck/Kufstein: On the Loferer Straße/B178 in the direction of St. Johann i.T., then via the Hochkönig federal road/B164 via Saalfelden to Maria Alm.
A valid vignette is required for using the Austrian motorway and expressway network. Also mandatory to carry a first aid kit, warning triangle, and reflective vest. More information at Asfinag.
