Rosental brings the history of mining to life in impressive fashion at the Karl-Schacht Mining Museum. You’ll gain an insight into the work of miners and, among other things, marvel at Europe’s last operational 86-tonne MENCK C 251 high-bucket excavator.
Rosental an der Kainach lies right in the heart of the Lipizzaner region. Particular emphasis is placed here on the preservation and presentation of mining history. The Mining Museum has succeeded in making an important contribution to illustrating mining traditions. Particularly impressive is the last remaining 86-tonne MENCK C 251 high-bucket excavator in Europe, which is on display in the open-air area of the Mining Museum. You can also marvel at a wide variety of original machines in the museum that were once used in mining.
Another tourist attraction is the Rosental Youth and Leisure Centre. In summer, tennis courts (including table tennis), a skate park, the Fun Court and the beach volleyball court invite visitors to enjoy sporting activities. In winter, all ice sports enthusiasts will find something to their liking. At the Rosental Ice Rink, you can skate or play curling regardless of the weather or temperature.
