E-Bike Chapfensee

The challenging route leaves the town of Bad Ragaz and climbs past the Freudenberg castle ruins with views over the Rhine and Seeztal valleys to the Vilterserberg. After a short descent, the route climbs the road from Mels to the idyllic Chapfensee. Bikes must be left at the kiosk as the last 300 meters to the lake are under a general driving ban. The dammed mountain lake and its surroundings are protected and a popular destination for nature lovers. A rapid descent leads back to the valley floor and varied paths continue to Sargans Castle. The castle represents two hundred years of county and more than three centuries of varied vogt rule. It houses one of Europe's most important local museums and is a witness to the Sarganserland homeland history. After a short descent to the entrance of the Gonzen iron ore mine, where the Romans already mined iron ore, the route crosses the Sarganser Au. Along the Rhine dike, it goes to the Giessenpark Bad Ragaz and back to the starting point at the Tamina Thermal Spa Bad Ragaz.
