Tamina Gorge Circular Route

This route leads directly from the spa town of Bad Ragaz into the Tamina Gorge. After about an hour, the Old Bath Pfäfers is reached. The earliest baroque bathhouse in Switzerland, where kings and princesses once bathed, is now a nature, culture and enjoyment oasis with supraregional appeal. Inside are 2 museums and the Paracelsus memorial.

A few meters from the Old Bath Pfäfers is the entrance to the source grotto. The path leads 450 meters into the rock to the grotto where the spring water bubbles hot from the rock. Back at the Old Bath Pfäfers begins the ascent, which leads over a natural bridge and eventually out of the gorge to Pfäfers.

The tranquil village is dominated by the impressive baroque monastery church and the former Benedictine abbey. Past the ruins of Wartenstein Castle, downhill along the former military and trade route «Porta Romana» and the Rhine riverbank, the circular route leads back to Bad Ragaz.
