Huikko mountain bike route - Toivakka

The mountain bike trails of Huikko offer varied and diverse terrain for cycling enthusiasts. The routes are mainly set in dry, sandy, rolling terrain, with easy, flat sections and more challenging climbs and descents. On the western side of the Huikontie road, the routes are mainly easy and flat, suitable for beginners and families. On the east side, there are more elevation changes and a few steep downhill and uphill sections. There are also two bridges on the east side, which can be slippery in wet weather. The trails are well signposted, making it easy to navigate. The Huikko hut in the middle of the route area makes an excellent base.

The trails are partly on a new network cleared in the forest and partly on existing paths. In some places the trails flank motorways, but for the most part they follow the needle tracks of the canvas forest. The terrain is relatively flat, but there are a few short, steep climbs.

The more demanding additional loop on the east side of the Huikontie road includes two larger bridges and two other purony crossings, providing a further challenge for more experienced cyclists. The mountain bike trail is maintained during the melt season, so the trails are in good condition from spring to autumn.

A shelter and campfire site next to the parking area provide a comfortable resting place. A new, accessible dry toilet was built in the summer. The municipality takes care of the firewood in the lodge all year round.
