The ruins of Albeck are a historically significant building. It was built as a castle in the 10th century and first mentioned in documents in 1155. In 1680 the castle was dismantled and 2 km away on the old Roman road towards Sirnitz, the late baroque building "Albeck Castle" and an agricultural building were constructed from the stones of the castle. The current entrance gate of the castle is the old castle gate. Even a stonemason's mark can still be seen in the arch. In 1987, after almost 1000 years of church ownership, the castle came into the possession of Dr. Elisabeth Sickl, who bought and revitalized the decaying structure. Today, Albeck Castle is known as the "Pearl of the Gurk Valley" and is a protected monument. Cultural events take place in the castle, and the restaurant invites you to a cozy meal.

The route begins at the municipal office in Sirnitz, from there it passes by the Raiffeisenbank and the playground until the bridge over the Sirnitzbach. After crossing the bridge, keep left to the water trough, then take the path on the right side and walk to the junction near Albeck Castle. The route continues to the right. At first still over a street, then straight on the forest path to the ruins of Albeck. Upon arrival at the ruins of Albeck, there is a rest area to take a break. Afterwards, continue straight on the right path uphill for about one kilometer. A sign marks the path junction on the right side in the forest, where the hiking route continues and the descent begins. After this junction, the route continues for about 2 km to the end of the path at a junction, where it again turns right and leads back to the starting point at the bridge over the Sirnitzbach.
