The idyllic snowshoe hike leads from the center of the mountaineering village Mauthen first to the Maria Snow Church and from there further to the Lamprechtbauer - with a wonderful view over the Gail valley and, in good visibility, all the way to Dobratsch.
Starting from the center of the mountaineering village Mauthen, the ascent begins via the narrower path – with somewhat steeper switchbacks – which runs along a section of the Marian pilgrimage route.
After about 15 minutes you reach the Maria Snow Church. Here, depending on the season and height of the shrubs, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Kötschach-Mauthen.
The path continues – on the left side of the church – along an initially slightly ascending but soon flattening forest road up to the Plöckenpass road (B110).
After crossing the pass road, a signpost marks the continued ascent via a narrower, steeper path – which after about 20 minutes leads to an asphalted farm driveway opening onto a clearing.
The final section of the ascent leads across open areas to the Lamprechtbauer at 1,011 m – with its extensive valley views.
The indicated time refers "only" to the ascent, not to the descent (the descent follows the same route as the ascent).
