The 1987 world championship route leads from the beautiful Faaker See to St. Niklas and then back towards Villach over the small towns of Groß- and Kleinsattel. From there it goes uphill again back to Drobollach at Faaker See.
From Drobollach you take the federal road heading east, with the wonderful mountain world of the Karawanks and Lake Faak as constant companions on the right side. Before the town sign of Egg, turn left and descend the Ribnig hill until you reach the roundabout in St. Niklas. There take the third exit and reach Großsattel after a small climb. From there, the road continues through beautiful forests to Kleinsattel and further towards Villach. Shortly after you reach the federal road that leads to Villach on the right - here you turn left and head back towards Lake Faak. After a somewhat longer climb, the Fuchsbichl, you return to Drobollach through the small village of Mittewald.

In front of Egg is the Egger Martel - a very popular photo motif - ideal for a quick snapshot!
For those who want to ride the route authentically, the starting point is in Maria Gail - Prossowitsch. Unfortunately, there are not many parking spaces for cars there.
