Through the wild Samina Valley

The Samina is the soul of Liechtenstein's alpine waters. It is dammed up at the hamlet of Steg, where the first footbridge has bridged the river since time immemorial. From the "Steg, Tunnel" bus stop, the markings lead you briefly along the road over the bridge in front of the tunnel portal and point to the right onto Bödastrasse, an alpine path that ends at Bödastall. This is where the actual mountain hiking trail begins, which runs continuously west of the river to the border: Over the Sulzboden down to the Kaufbödele and then along the left side of the stream to the mouth of the Valorschbach stream pouring down on the opposite side of the valley. At Falleck at the foot of the Drei-Schwestern massif, the trail changes to Vorarlberg and turns into a comfortable forest path (yellow and white markings) in the wild and romantic gorge. The hiking trail then leaves the Samina and leads up to the hilltop village of Amerlügen in Austria on a panoramic terrace of the Vorderälpeles.
