An idyllic wilderness trail winds its way along the Rabnitz River, accompanied by the gentle murmur of the water and the cheerful chirping of birds. Here you can experience “slow travel” at its finest—unhurried, close to nature, and soothingly peaceful. Along the way, the Öde Kircherl awaits discovery. The starting point of the loop hike is the village meeting place in the center of Weingraben.

Our hiking tip takes you along sections

of the Burgenland Long-Distance Hiking Trail (from Kittsee to Kalch), the Austrian Long-Distance Hiking Trails 01 (Central Alps Trail from Hainburg to Feldkirch) and 07 (Eastern Austrian Borderland Trail from the Waldviertel to Southern Styria), as well as the European Long-Distance Hiking Trail E4, which connects an impressive 10,000 kilometers from Portugal to Cyprus.

On this route, you may well encounter hikers who have already been on the trail for many days or even weeks—an encounter that makes the hiking experience even more special.
