Lodge tour - Bleckenau

From the town center in Hohenschwangau, the path leads steeply uphill to the bus stop "Jugend", where the shuttle buses to Neuschwanstein Castle stop. From here begins the ascent on the Brunnstubenweg, also known as the water pipeline path, up into the high valley of the Bleckenau – and thus into a quiet, almost magical world far from the hustle and bustle. Passing Neuschwanstein Castle, the path continues steadily through the shady mountain forest. After the climb, the valley suddenly opens up: surrounded by distinctive rock peaks and old maple trees, the Bleckenau lies idyllically on a flat valley floor. The name of the high valley probably derives from the Old Bavarian word "Blecken", which stands for coltsfoot – a plant which blooms here in large numbers in the spring and borders the meadows.

The royal family already appreciated the special atmosphere of the Bleckenau: Around 1850 King Maximilian II had the so-called "Swiss house" built for his wife Marie, which was later used by King Ludwig II as a hunting lodge. Today the cozy Berggasthaus Bleckenau is located there – ideal for a stop on the sunny terrace.

The return route leads back to Hohenschwangau via Bleckenaustraße. Alternatively, the Bleckenau bus runs from the afternoon onward – also directly to the valley station of the Tegelbergbahn. Note: The tour is also doable with an all-terrain sports buggy. Please note that the ascent runs along a gravel forest road.

Alternatively, you can start the tour from the Tegelbergtal station and hike along the Pöllat to Hohenschwangau. From there you take the bus to the Bleckenau lodge. Afterwards, you can stop there with the whole family. Then it goes back via the Brunnstubenweg and past Neuschwanstein Castle to Hohenschwangau. From there, you hike along the Pöllat back to the Tegelbergtal station. At the parking lot at the Tegelbergtal station is the summer toboggan run, where you can take a final ride with the whole family.

With the Schwangau hiking pass for big and small hiking enthusiasts, you now have the opportunity to explore our unique natural landscape on your own. As proof of your achievement, you will find a small wooden box with a punch tool on the respective routes.

Simply punch the corresponding hiking route in your hiking pass and show it at the Tourist Information after completing enough hiking routes. There you will receive a hiking pin as a reward, and the little hikers a hiking certificate.

The printed Schwangau hiking pass is available free of charge at the Schwangau Tourist Information, at the information point in Hohenschwangau, at the Tegelbergbahn valley station, and at the Ziegelwies forest experience center.

An additional walk around the mountain inn Bleckenau across the eponymous high plateau, where you can find, for example, a hollow maple tree, is especially worthwhile for families.
