The signpost at the parking lot in the town center indicates 3.5 km to Farrenkopf and directs us across the federal road towards Sulzbachtal.
After about 400 m on a paved road, the next signpost "Vordersulzbach" stands on the right, which we follow on the blue rhombus towards Farrenkopf. Initially on a wide path, then on a narrow trail, you reach the spring below the summit.
From there follows a steep final climb over the exposed terrain up to the Hasemann hut, dedicated to the local Gutach painter Prof. Wilhelm Hasemann.
The highest point of the route is now reached and offers a view down into the Gutach valley during the well-deserved rest.
The well-known "Westweg" of the Black Forest Association, as well as the European long-distance path E1, lead over the Farrenkopf.
The first third, but also the most strenuous part of the hike, is now behind us, and we now orient ourselves on the red rhombus of the Westweg towards Büchereck.
There, a barbecue area and another hut invite you to linger. Views open up to the south into the upper Gutach valley.
Now we leave the Westweg and orient ourselves on the descent to the left of the hut towards the spring and Gutach village.
Here we follow the yellow rhombus of the Black Forest Association. Via the route "left Sulzbach" and Vordersulzbach we reach the starting point of our hike, partly on a paved road.
