Vigo di Fassa dominates the entire valley thanks to its privileged position on a wide and sunny terrace.
Due to its central position and the presence of the primary road linking it to the north, Vigo was once considered the administrative and religious centre of the valley, where the so-called Pieve di Fassa was founded during the Longobard period and the royal manor was established. Despite the devastating fire in 1921, Vigo has managed to preserve many traces of its ancient rural and artisan culture. On the hill, adjacent to the forest, the church of Santa Giuliana (St Juliane) watches over the village.
