From Hochstein car park, past Bruck castle, there follows a climb, steadily uphill through the forest. At the junction for Taxer Gasl continue up to Hochsteinhütte, where there is a short section where you have to carry the bike. The descent then follows via Hochsteinstraße to Bannberg, continuing on the Drau cycle trail back to Lienz.
Coming from Lienz railway station, go to the roundabout and then follow the signs for Matrei/Felbertauern. After about 500 metres turn left.
