This hike leads into the Stoissengraben, a wide gorge that cuts deep through the rock and is dominated by the Buchweißbach. Especially families and hikers who prefer the natural experience over elevation gain will enjoy it here. The cool mountain water of the Buchweißbach offers an opportunity for refreshment and a few barefoot steps, while the mostly shaded path provides a varied hiking experience even on hot summer days. For families, the Stoissengraben proves to be a large natural playground inviting discovery and romping. At the end of the Stoissengraben awaits a fairytale waterfall. The last section on the way to the waterfall is only suitable for experienced and sure-footed hikers.
Note: It is possible to climb from Stoissengraben via the waterfall trail in about 3.5 hours to the Peter-Wiechenthaler hut. Recommended only for experienced, sure-footed hikers with good fitness.

The path begins at the barrier to the Stoissengraben. From here, it goes along a wide gravel path next to the stream through a beautiful natural forest reserve to the waterfall at the end of the gorge. On a leisurely hike, you can admire the abundant animal and plant life. The return is along the same path.

Entering the water is at your own risk only. The current and very cold water temperatures should not be underestimated. Never leave children and dogs unattended in the water or near the shore.
BY CAR
Drive on the Pinzgau federal road B311 from Saalfelden towards Lofer. About 1.2 km after the Schörhof inn (Marzon 10, 5760 Saalfelden), take the first right exit. After about 300 m, parking facilities are available on the left side. The hike begins here. Follow the Stoissengraben signpost.
BY TRAIN

BY BUS
Take bus number 260 from "Saalfelden Am Postplatz" to the stop "Saalfelden Fohlenhof." From there, walk about 500 meters along the Tauern bike path towards Saalfelden to the Stoissengraben entrance. More information can be found at https://fahrplan.salzburg-verkehr.at/
Parking facilities are located at the starting point of the hike at the Stoissengraben parking lot.
