Your family-friendly hike starts on a wide gravel road leading you towards the idyllic Huberalm. Leave everyday stress behind and enjoy the fresh mountain air as you approach the goal step by step. Soon you will change to a narrow path that leads you through a charming forest. Here you can hear the rustling of the leaves and the chirping of birds – a perfect setting for your hike! Pay attention to the small wonders of nature you encounter and feel the energy of the surroundings. After a pleasant ascent, you reach the Huberalm, the oldest alpine hut in Dienten. Imagine standing in a beautiful clearing with breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic High Tauern. Here you can take a well-deserved break and reward yourself with a delicious piece of homemade cake or a refreshing lemonade – you really earned it after the climb! Freshly strengthened, continue on an old tractor path leading you to the Königsbergalm. The path is pleasant and inviting while you can fully enjoy the magnificent landscape. Keep your eyes open for colorful wildflowers and curious animals living here – you might even see some mountain goats! Upon arrival at Königsbergalm, you are back on a gravel road leading downhill to the Lindl goods road. Now you can really speed up and enjoy the feeling of freedom during the descent! Let your gaze wander over the breathtaking landscape and feel the happiness surrounding you. This hike is not only a great opportunity to spend time in nature but also a perfect chance to create unforgettable memories with your family.

From the bus stop or the parking lot "Keilbrücke" (Fischerstüberl, closed!) you walk a short distance along the goods road until the second left turn towards Huberalm. Follow forest road no. 60 to the junction to Huberalm. Here a field path leads further to Huberalm. Don't forget to stop by, because the Huberalm is the oldest alpine pasture in Dienten am Hochkönig. Inside the hut you find a traditional smoke kitchen, which is sometimes still in operation. The Huberalm produces its own cheese, which you can also buy in the valley AB-HOF. From Huberalm, a beautiful forest path no. 59c leads towards Königsbergalm. At a T-junction, keep left on path no. 59a to Königsbergalm (possibility to stop for a break). From there, it goes back down the forest road (path no. 59a) and along the goods road (path no. 59) past numerous farms back to the starting point.

Self-assessment: Before each mountain route, check your physical fitness and correctly assess your strength as well as that of your companions – especially your children! Sure-footedness and a head for heights are often very important!
Planning and preparation: Plan every intended mountain route carefully in advance. Hiking maps and guides as well as advice from alpine clubs and locals such as mountain guides and hut hosts can be helpful.
Equipment: In the mountains, you need appropriate equipment and clothing, especially sturdy, high shoes with a good grip sole. Weather and cold protection are indispensable, as weather can often change suddenly.
Weather forecasts: Observe the current weather conditions at: zamg.at or www.uwz.at.
Togetherness: Observe the 10 rules for proper interaction with grazing animals and leave no waste in nature!
Do not kick stones away: Do not kick stones away, as this can seriously endanger other hikers. Marked areas with risk of falling rocks should be crossed as quickly as possible with attention and caution.
Turn back in time: This is not a disgrace but a sign of common sense. It becomes necessary if the weather changes, fog sets in, or if the path is too difficult or not in good condition.
Emergency numbers: Alpine emergency: 140, International emergency: 112, Rescue: 144
Arrival from Salzburg: Take the A10 motorway to the Bischofshofen exit, then on the B311 towards Bischofshofen. Follow the Hochkönig federal road/B164 to Mühlbach and further to Dienten.
