Popis

Starting point is the tourist information Emmelshausen in the center at the park at the traffic circle. From here you cycle downhill through the Rhein-Mosel-Straße and turn left at a discount store, directly right again you come to the Schinderhannes-Untermosel cycle path.Pass the cemetery and the sports field Liesenfeld and cycle through the forest "Scheid" to Gondershausen. At the entrance to Gondershausen you will see a landmark in the traffic circle, the "Reiserbesen". They point to the old tradition of the "Gonderscher Besembenner". You do not enter the traffic circle, but turn half-left into the narrow footpath. From there you reach Hübelstraße and turn left. Shortly after, turn right again into Gartenweg. At the end of Gartenweg you cross Rhein-Mosel-Straße and turn right again into Schönecker Straße.Continue in the direction of Mermuth. Here you have to climb a short slope up to a forest. When you come out of the forest you will be rewarded with a great view up to the high Eifel. In Mermuth you can visit the intarsia museum, which is unique in Germany (open daily from 10 am to 6 pm). The handicraft technique of inlaying marquetry is several thousand years old. The cycle path continues straight ahead through the Grieswald forest. Here the Griesmännchen is said to haunt even today. The story about the Griesmännchen is as follows: - The people of Beulich claimed a forest called Gries, which is said to have always belonged to Mermuth. After a long dispute it came to a trial between the two communities. In Beulich there was an old man who had survived the plague. He was known as an honest and well-behaved person and was supposed to decide. The man went into his garden, scattered earth in his shoes and hid branches of Beulich trees under his hat. Thus equipped, he walked along the border and, to the horror of the people of Mermuth, after he had long since crossed the natural border of the stream, he stopped only 100 meters before their village border. There he raised his hand to swear and cried out in a loud voice: "The ground on which I stand and the leaves that cover my head have always belonged to Beulich, so help me God." As punishment, the man's ghost is said to haunt Grieswald even today. - Passing the Grieshof vacation guesthouse, turn right again directly behind the Grieswald and drive to Beulich. There turn right into Parkstraße and go straight on through Ehrenburger Straße.Continue to Morshausen: Worth seeing: The Schwengelbrunnen, which one would rather have assumed to be in the Hungarian Puszta. According to legend, it was donated by a Hungarian countess who was married to Ehrenburg. In the "Backes" next to the church there is a small museum of local history, dedicated to the Morshausen writer Jakob Kneip (Hampit the Hunter). In Morshausen the bike route runs through Brunnenstraße, Kirchstraße and Jakob-Kneip-Straße, from which you turn into Emmriger Weg. The route continues along the cycle path in steep serpentines with views of vineyards and Bischofsstein Castle down to the Moselle in the wine village of Burgen. From Burgen you follow the Mosel cycle path upstream to Treis-Karden, where you cross over the Mosel bridge to the other side of the river. Via Pommern and Klotten you will finally return to your starting point Cochem.

Informace o prohlídce

The Schinderhannes-Untermosel Cycle Path connects the front part of Hunsrück with Untermosel via paths that are far from traffic. Its additional name "cycle path with a view" makes it clear that on its way from Emmelshausen via Gondershausen, Mermuth, Beulich and Morshausen wide views over the Hunsrück to the volcanic cones of the Eifel mountains are possible.
