Itinerary Castellania - Oropa | Stage 3 From Novi Ligure to Tortona

The first kilometers of this stage are all flat, along the route we encounter the Castle of Pozzolo Formigaro. Just after crossing the Scrivia stream, the first climbs begin; from Carezzano the slopes become steeper and the signage starts that will lead us up to Castellania, the birthplace of Fausto and Serse Coppi. A visit to his house is a must, built in the second half of the 19th century, whose rooms have been transformed into a museum dedicated to the "Great Heron". From Castellania, we can face the steep climb to the hamlet of San Alosio, where a manor once stood, of which only two sections of a square-based tower remain visible (2.8 km round trip, the last stretch of 350 m must be done on foot, make sure you can secure the bikes at the parking area). From Costa Vescovato, we take the cycle-pedestrian path to Villaromagnano, fully enjoying the enchanting landscape without worrying about traffic. The long descent leads us to Tortona.
