ORB TO ESCANDORGUE HIKE

At the parking lot, take the street crossing Roqueredonde. Leave the village to the north and turn right onto the D 142E2 towards Autignaguet.

Turn left onto a path lined with boxwood. Descend into a hollow. Cross a stream on a bridge and reach the Furou. Bypass a large building on the right, then climb a steep slope up to Autignaguet. Follow the D 142E2 to the left, pass in front of the church. Continue on the road.

Turn right. Shortly after, ignore the left turn to the cemetery.

At a fork, go right, pass in front of a stupa, then reach the Tibetan Buddhist center of Lérab Ling (stay on the marked path: respect private property).

Option to take a shorter variant of the route (8 km, 2 h 30, medium level). Just before the tall pines, turn right into the ferns. Pass under bungalows and continue along the ridge. Descend and join the Roqueredonde parking lot. Continue to the D 142 (viewpoint over the Buddhist center, the Caroux plateau, and Espinouse in the distance). Head right, go about 250 m on the road, then turn left onto a trail entering the Escandorgue state forest. Stay on the main trail which turns north, then east (follow the markings carefully) and reaches an intersection (junction with the PR® Le cirque de Labeil).

Turn right, cross a clearing, climb and reach an intersection with a path to the left (junction with the PR® Les corniches de Lauroux).

Go straight on, stay on the main trail and reach the Roquet Escu picnic area. Continue straight and ascend a path winding through conifers (follow markings carefully, fog risk). Reach a metal gate (separation with the PR® Les corniches de Lauroux).

Turn right, zigzag among dolomitic rocks and boxwood (viewpoint over the cirque de Labeil and the Larzac plateau). Climb over a fence on a wooden ladder and reach the D 902. Cross the road (caution). Enter straight ahead on a trail through a cedar plantation. Climb between meadows (viewpoint over the Lodévois valley) and reach the D 142 which is taken to the right.

Turn left onto a wide trail crossing the plateau. Descend through the meadows. At a gate, continue left on a rocky path through the beech forest and reach the stream. Cross by wading and climb opposite to go along the buildings of Mas de Grèzes. Go right on the farm access road. Further on, ignore a small road to the left.
