Plunge into the heart of this colorful and exotic region. Initially intended as a water reserve to promote crop diversification, Lac du Salagou eventually became one of the department's must-see tourist attractions. For everyone's enjoyment... The leisure centres on the shores of the lake also offer water sports activities.
Be sure to follow the red markings (no. 1) of the local mountain-biking area (the route proposed to you takes the 'black' variant between the banks of Octon and the village of Celles).
1
From the parking lot, head clockwise along the beach, then onto small shady paths (beware of a few stream crossings!). After the parking lots on the banks of Liausson, a short climb leads to a tarmac road. Pass parking areas and a peninsula to reach the D156. Keep to the path parallel to this road for about 1.5 km and come to a crossroads.
2
Go straight ahead and follow the signposted path. Pass through vineyards and pick up a small road. Cross the fords and stay on this road until you reach a parking lot and a boat launch (site des rives d'Octon). Follow the path which continues straight on, then winds over the banks. At the 'mas de riri' campsite, follow the signs (technical passage, the path can be submerged when the lake level is high). Cross the campsite, following the signs. Reach the village of Celles, by the lake.
3
Before the village, look for the signposted path heading north. Keep your foot on the pedals for the stony climb ahead. Continue until you reach the road, then turn right along the path. It's great fun and the panorama is fabulous. At a crossroads, stay on itinerary N°1 and go around the hill until you reach the Vailhès parking lot.
4
Continue along the lake, following the signs. Continue as far as the Notre-Dame des Clans chapel, a place of pilgrimage every year on August 15. Pick up the track above and turn right. The climb is gentle. Take in the views of the lake and surrounding hills before heading back down the asphalt road to the hamlet of Mas Audran. Keep your speed under control on the descent and through the hamlet, for your own safety and that of the inhabitants of Mas Audran: the road is narrow and the hamlet's lanes winding...
5
Leave the hamlet and continue down into the valley. Pass the dam and stay on the road until you reach the campsite on the other side. Spot the path branching off to the right and follow the fence to the Clermont banks parking lot.

For your own safety and that of local residents, please keep your speed under control as you pass through the hamlet of Mas Audran: the lanes are winding!
