Trail The Petite Carrière

This circuit is part of the marked trails of the Monts de Guéret area. The start is at the parking lot of the Maupuy refuge. The Petite Carrière is route number 2 among the various trail tracks of the Monts de Guéret.

With no major difficulties, this route is an invitation to discover all the richness of Maupuy. It includes granite quarries, the Pierres Civières site, and many superb viewpoints. Trail runners can especially enjoy views over Guéret, the Toulx-Sainte-Croix hill, and even the foothills of the Massif Central!

This route is also a dive into the history of these quarries now overgrown by vegetation. In the 1930s, several hundred workers daily worked here to extract cobblestones and send them to major cities (Paris, Lyon, etc.) as well as the Alps.
