From the Leine Valley to the Hohe Kreuz and back

Starting point: New Town Hall. From there continue on the roadside bike path along the L564/568, partly equipped with bumps and hard-to-see ledges and crests, to Groß Schneen. Then turn left onto the wonderful K 22, which, except for the last kilometer, presents a long, slippery but not steep climb up to Ludolfshausen. There turn left onto L 567 towards Bremke. This initially features a short descent, then a roughly 1.5 km long not steep climb. Poor, damaged surface with holes and depressions must be noted. The following descent to Ischenrode is somewhat steeper and curvier. Manhole covers pose a danger especially when wet. The surface is good. From Ischenrode to Bremke the descent runs into a slightly descending “inclined plane.” The surface is poor and with its depressions in the last right curve at somewhat increased speed poses a danger. In Bremke turn right and follow L567 towards Bischhausen. Up to Bischhausen, the user encounters a wide, not particularly attractive road with quite good surface and a partly steeper climb and a flat descent. In Bischhausen there is a village through-road with holes and danger spots. Caution! In Bischhausen turn right onto K 19 and shortly thereafter continue on the municipal road to Bischhagen. This road with damaged surface presents up to the state border an about 2.5 km long slippery but not steep climb and then continues to Bischhagen as a narrow road with good surface. In Bischhagen near the Hohe Kreuz turn right onto the state road (from the state border L 568) heading to Bremke. This road is wide and rather unattractive, has mostly good surface and is somewhat busier. Initially it runs on a flat high plateau, then transitions into a partly steep, straight and interrupted by a counter-ridge descent. Attention wind! Speeds between 55 and sometimes 75 km/h are reached. Before Bremke during the descent switch back to L 567. Watch for right of way (no ideal visibility). A few hundred meters later in Bremke follow L567 on the left side to Ludolfshausen. Up to Ischenrode the road is in poor condition. The route mostly presents a gently ascending, inclined plane. From Ischenrode the surface is good, and the ascending inclined plane turns into a moderately steep climb, which flattens somewhat before the crest near Lichtenhagen, but becomes more exposed to the wind. After the crest follows an about 2 km long, not steep descent on poor surface. Especially in Lichtenhagen watch out for depressions. Before Ludolfshausen follows a longer counter-ridge, which after turning onto the very well rideable K 22 continues for about 1.5 km with slight incline. From the forest edge follows then the 4 km long, not steep, varied descent to Groß Schneen. There are curved sections in the forest and straight sections in the open terrain. In Groß Schneen turn right to the roadside bike path on L 564/568 towards Göttingen. Surface bumps and partly hard-to-see crests and ledges must definitely be observed. In Göttingen back to the starting point.
