The hike starts at Schöftland railroad station, leads through the mill area, over the Suhre and along the Suhrentalerstrasse. The trail continues through the forest and along the edge of the forest, with views of the Suhrental valley. After crossing the Stübisbergstrasse, follow the hiking trail to the Stübisberg crossing, then continue left past the Uerknerberg to the Bohli crossing. A forest road takes you to Schwarzhuserebni and the Breiten road crossing. Continue via the Staffelbach forest hut and the Sattelhof. From Kalthof, the trail leads over a crossroads to Lochhof. From there, turn right and follow the edge of the forest in the direction of the "Sandstone quarries" signpost.
In the impressive sandstone quarries of Staffelbach, traces of houses on the walls bear witness to the dangerous work of the quarrymen. The sandstone was quarried almost exclusively by hand. The blocks of stone, weighing several tons, were hewn from the rock, moved with simple mechanical devices and finally transported to their final destination on heavy carts pulled by horses or oxen. It was only in the last decades of sandstone quarrying that power-driven pneumatic drills were used.
After the sandstone quarries, the route continues to the shooting range and on to the road at Bühl. There you reach the sandstone museum in an old day laborer's house and finally arrive at the Suhrenbrücke post bus stop.
