The City of Luxembourg is characterised above all by its multicultural flair and touristic diversity. Despite its manageable size, Luxembourg's capital has a lot to offer with its old town district and fortifications, which have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994: from the Grand Ducal Palace to the numerous boutiques and cafés in the upper town, a variety of museums and cultural institutions, to the panoramic path "Chemin de la Corniche", also known as the "most beautiful balcony in Europe".
Underneath the city, however, lies its main attraction: the Casemates, the world's longest underground defence system of kilometre-long corridors. In the Bock casemates, the history of the former fortress city becomes an experience.
