Starting from the center of Bormio, the climb to Bormio 2000 is a route of about 9 km with an elevation gain of about 700 meters. The road is fully paved and has constant and regular gradients, making it ideal for targeted training or to warm up your legs. Upon reaching 2000 meters, you enjoy a beautiful view and find yourself in the heart of the ski resort.
In 2004 Damiano Cunego made it famous by winning a stage of the Giro d'Italia and then winning the final pink jersey. The climb leads to 2000 meters, directly on the ski slopes, and is characterized by wide hairpin bends in the forest.
Professionals ride it on rest days between big climbs. Others have to work hard. The view of the MAGNIFICENT EARTH is like a postcard image.
Bormio - Bormio 2000
Any type of bike, from road bike to mountain bike to e-bike.
Road Bike: Perfect for this climb. Climbing gears (compact with 11-28/30 at the rear) are sufficient.
MTB/Gravel: Perfect for training, but not necessary due to the perfect asphalt.
E-bike: Great for those who want to do some physical activity without excessive effort, enjoying the scenery.
Clothing: Standard cycling gear, possibly a windproof vest for the descent.
Training: Ideal for quality workouts or to test your condition. You can do more repeats if you want.
Traffic: Being a road leading to a ski resort, traffic can increase, especially on weekends or during peak season.
Refreshment Points: At the top of Bormio 2000 there are several places and refuges where you can refresh yourself.
There is a convenient parking lot at the cemetery or the new parking lot at Porta in Via Milano.

The basic idea of STELVIO EPIC RIDES is to challenge cyclists from all over the world to climb the 3 iconic passes of our territory - Stelvio, Gavia, and Mortirolo - during the opening season of the passes.
Alongside this main Challenge is the challenge to ride the 7 unexplored climbs* which correspond to the "Great climbs" of the Alta Valle Mountain Community.
Not a race, but a challenge, that wants to become an inclusive initiative, capable of encouraging people to test themselves on one of the most representative terrains of world cycling, retracing the path of the great cycling champions, discovering unique places in Valtellina.
* Detail of the 7 unexplored climbs:
Laghi di Cancano
Fumero
Monte
Forte di Oga
Bormio 2000
Strada dei Forni
Passo Forcola
Great for repeats or to test your physical condition. It is a very regular climb, so you can focus on your rhythm and cadence.
