Lingenau

*Lingenau is the sunniest village in the Bregenzerwald on the edge of a plain bordered to the north by the ridge of the Rotenberg-Schweizberg. A holiday resort in summer and winter. Repeatedly honoured as the most beautiful flower community in Vorarlberg.

The Lingenau High Bridge is 369 metres long and 90 metres above the valley floor of the Bregenzerach, the Großdorfer Bridge is 358 metres long and spans the riverbed of the Subersach at a height of 106 metres.

Favourable bus connections throughout the region, nearest railway station in Dornbirn and Bregenz. Places of interest: St. Anna's Chapel, Gschwendtobel Bridge (designed by the South Tyrolean Alois Negrelli, who is also regarded as the spiritual father of the Suez Canal), wire footbridge, spring tufa hiking trail, Dörnlesee lake, educational bee garden, village lime tree, Lingenau high bridge, Bregenzerwald cheese cellar with presentation and sales room.

Quelltuff hiking trail: The trail, designed as a path, opens up one of the most outstanding geological phenomena in Vorarlberg. The extraordinary limestone sinter formations are among the most magnificent occurrences in the whole of Central Europe. The spring tuff slope is located at the western end of the late glacial Lingenau gravel terrace, which has dissolved into several tongues. Below this, sandstones and conglomerates of the Weissach strata form a steep drop of approx. 40 metres to the Subersach.
