Around Hochosterwitz castle (4 and 4a)

Follow the hiking trail marker no. 4

From the starting point of the hike, the Launsdorf-Hochosterwitz train station, the path leads through the village of Launsdorf past the power plant on the canal on the Gurk river to the church of St. Martin. The hiking trail then branches off along the riding path. Before St. Sebastian, turn right and follow the path - there is an impressive view of the Hochosterwitz castle complex, which towers on its imposing rock and is accessible through 14 gates. Here you have the option to take the shortcut on route 4a to Launsdorf station.

The hike continues - after crossing the Krappfeld state road, turn into a field path and walk through the valley bottom towards Thalsdorf. Through an underpass, you reach the north side of the Seeberg state road. The village of Thalsdorf is walked through towards the north; the route then ascends passing south of the "Unterweinzer" estate, until - after a short descent - the starting point is reached again.

Sturdy footwear, drinking supply, and sun protection are recommended.
