Saualpe: Kleinhinterberger circuit 1- Trail no.1, 308, 5a, 1d

From the Kleinhinterberger Hut follow trail no. 1 to Forstalpe (2034 m). At the junction with the long-distance trail (Eisenwurzen Trail) 08/308 turn left. Continue along the Saualpe ridge via the "Kienberg" (2050 m) - "Iron Cross" (1958 m) and "Gertrusk" (2044 m). This section of approx. 5 km offers magnificent panoramic views. To the east the Packalpe, to the southeast the Koralpe, to the south the Karawanken/Julian Alps and in good weather one can see to the west as far as the Schladminger and Wölzer Tauern. At the lowest point between Gertrusk and Ladinger Spitz turn left. This path leads past the Meeraugen (2 small mountain lakes) through romantic alders to the Ladinger Hut. The return to the Kleinhinterberger Hut follows a forest road through a very beautiful mountain forest.
