Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe is the viewing platform for Großglockner and Pasterze and has a lot to offer: Starting from the usually very busy “National Park Parking Lot,” several noteworthy information points invite you to visit. Easy hike suitable for every family member with interesting stations along the route.
We recommend participating in the daily guided National Park Ranger tour “Panorama Circular Trail Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe,” as along this panoramic trail you have special photographic opportunities: Apart from the impressive Großglockner and Pasterze glacier in view, you can observe many marmots and ibexes here.
Daily from early/mid-July to mid/end of September at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. - Duration: 1 hour, participation free of charge, no registration required

The comfortable and short hike along the path to the Wilhelm Swarovski Observation Tower starts from the parking garage deck. We recommend visiting the exhibition there. With the high-performance telescopes, you won't miss much as the habitat of the largest mountain ungulate colony in the National Park is nearby. Marmots line the path, curiously looking for food.
You continue along the path and reach the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs House. The inn invites you to refresh yourself before you hike the circular trail back towards the National Park Parking Lot - beside the parking garage.
The view at the National Park Parking Lot is breathtaking, the highest mountain in Austria lies before you, and the largest glacier in the Eastern Alps lies below you. The visitor center is also located here - a truly impressive exhibition on various topics across 3 floors.
This circular trail can also be combined with the walk through the 6 tunnels of the Gamsgrubenweg.
