Loiblpass and Seebergsattel

Starting from Lake Klopein, the route goes via Stein in the Jauntal valley and Möchling to Gallizien in the Rosental valley. To avoid the climb over the abbey, turn right over the Anna bridge and cross the Drava into a lonely side road to Lake Linsendorf. At Rottenstein, the Drava is crossed again, and you reach the B 85, continuing on to Ferlach. The gunsmith town of Ferlach is passed along the Loiblbach stream, and from Unterloibl the climb to the Loiblpass begins. 11.8 km and about 1,000 m of elevation must be overcome. The Loiblpass is interesting for cyclists as, since the opening of the Karawanken tunnel, there is a ban on heavy traffic and individual traffic is also limited. The well-lit Loibl tunnel is 1.7 km long and can be passed quickly; a bicycle light should still be taken for safety reasons. Then it goes rapidly downhill to Trzic (a protected old town) and over absolutely quiet, gently hilly side roads via Krize, Golnik, Gorice, Tristenik to Preddvor. Here you turn into the Kokra valley, following the rushing Kokra for about 20 km of gentle uphill to the valley end in the mountain village of Jezersko. A detour to the lake about 1 km away is highly recommended as there is a wonderful view of the rugged Steiner Alps. From Jezersko to the Seebergsattel it is "only" 4.6 km with about 300 m of elevation. The saddle itself is at 1,220 m above sea level and offers an impressive view of the Carinthian lowlands. After Bad Eisenkappel follows a roughly 15 km long descent, and along the Vellach River (from Bad Eisenkappel the Vellach bike path can also be used) it goes gently downhill to Miklauzhof. Alongside Lake Gösselsdorf to Eberndorf and over Buchbrunn and the southern shore of Lake Klopein back to the starting point.
