Not far away are the remains of the Roman provincial capital of Virunum with the restored amphitheater, once the scene of gladiator games (guided tours and visits by appointment only!).
Maria Saale Cathedral and its towers have dominated the landscape for centuries. The nearby open-air museum brings rural building culture from four centuries to life. The route leads back to Klagenfurt via quiet side roads.
