From Spittal an der Drau, the cycle tour leads through the Lieserschlucht gorge towards Lake Millstätter See, where you soon reach Seeboden on the western shore. A few meters above the village sits Sommeregg Castle with its interesting but somewhat creepy torture museum. The route now follows the northern shore of the lake towards Millstatt. Millstatt has history and flair, as many an architectural gem in the town shows. In the center is the first Carinthian bathhouse, which is modeled on a historic bathhouse that once stood on the Carinthian lakes. Today, of course, it is a wellness facility with an outdoor pool where you can swim right into the lakes. The route often continues directly along the water towards the eastern and southern shores. Above the Laggerhof bay, the route now climbs up the mountain ridge and on the backside back down into the Drau valley and via Rothenthurn back to the starting point.

A shortcut and nice alternative is to take the Peter Pan bike ferry from Millstatt to the south shore and then look for the bench on the lake to enjoy an undisturbed view of Lake Millstatt. However, you would then miss the fish snack in the garden in Dellach. Fish from our own production in a sensational location!
