Strunjan heart route - longer

From the start of the route through the Strunjan salt pans and along the road with two bends above Hotel Salinera, we turn onto a footpath towards Pacug. Above Fiesa, we descend a steep road to the coastal path, which leads to Piran's church of St. George and further to Tartini Square. From there, through Piran along the coast and an ascent past the main Piran parking garage to the intersection for Portorož. Descent past the Bernardin hotels and along the sea on the Portorož promenade to the branch for the Auditorium – a summer and winter event venue. Past it, an ascent on an asphalt road to the Valeta tunnel (also used by the Parenzana cycling route) and then a descent back to the start of the route at the Strunjan beach parking lot.

Light hiking shoes, hiking poles, a cap with a visor or a hat.

On hot days, walking in the early morning hours is recommended.

The route is extremely scenic but also includes three ascents, so this should be taken into account especially on hot days.
