Kočevje Short hiking trail

 The Kočevje mountain trail connects the sights of the southwestern part of the municipality of Kočevje, Kostela and Osilnice. It runs from Koča pri Jelenovem studenecu hut, to Kolpa pri Gorenja Žaga, along the slopes of the Kolpa river canyon to Krempa saddle and returns to the cottage via Borovec and Kočevska Reka, past the Ledena jama. The first part of the route takes us mainly through natural and preserved fir-beech forests. There are only a few villages and hamlets in between, which indicates the sparse population and extensive vegetation of Kočevska. The entire edge of the lake is a unique habitat for rare and endangered plant and animal species.
