Feistritz Valley: Blaindorf–Hirnsdorf–Kaibing / Maria Fieberbründl–St. Johann near Herberstein–Siegersdorf near Herberstein

Any attempt to describe these five villages would likely result in an unacceptable oversimplification. Let this much be noted here in telegram style: not far from Herberstein Castle, the “Wild Waters” of the Feistritz burst forth from the gorge—an ensemble of magnificent buildings, a garden of small sacred treasures. Bacchus has been lounging for centuries among the landscape-protected vineyard hills, and further down in the valley, the shadow of late Gothic architecture.

A world-class pilgrimage site with a spring sanctuary; in the Hofwald, spirit and lungs spread their wings wide. Traditional summers—fresh and vibrant—and the sophisticated allure of the historic Kaltwasserbad (1830) continue to fascinate. At the “Wörthl,” the ancient river invites you to wade through its waters. A blend of rich cultural history and a contrasting present creates new neighborhoods between radiant squares and the small wonders in between.

The Hinterwald is there, too. A historic trail lined with aristocratic houses, a pilgrimage church with a spring shrine, a saltwater graduation facility in the forest, a late-Gothic church with a sound monument and a votive painting (1704), a small grocery store, river experience areas, the Holy Grave on Klausenberg (1660), a poetry spot by the water, devotional objects, a river-walking trail, a farm shop, Kneipp facilities, and a Natura 2000 site.
