Tuukkala Farm - Kallioniemi, Saimaa

After a delicious breakfast at the glass veranda of Tuukkala Farm, we jump on the back of the bikes again. Saimaa's beautiful landscapes, nature and cultural-historical sites offer its travellers many opportunities on this stage of the tour. 

Stop at the ruins of Brahelinna castle mansion, where you can experience the times of Count Pietari Brahe from the 17th century and visit Varkaantaipale canal which was built in 19th century. This natural and cultural site is 416 meters longs and about 9 meters wide and is mainly built on rock. 

The end point of the stage is located in the historic Kallioniemi, where you can stay overnight in barn accommodation and have a sauna in the magnificent scenery of Lake Someenjärvi. Guided excursions to the famous rock paintings of Astuvansalmi, which is one of Saimaa Geopark's geosites, also depart from here. The rock paintings, which are about 5,000 years old, are the largest prehistoric rock paintings in the Nordic countries and are best seen on the water.
