Ukonmäki nature trail runs through varied shore and forest landscapes. The area has a diverse plant life.
The nature trail can be accessed, for example, from Joutseno marina at Likosenlahti, where you can park your car in the parking area next to the carpet washing place. The trail covers a relatively small area, so there is hardly any risk of getting lost despite some missing signs in places. Starting from Joutseno marina, the trail follows the shores, then briefly follows a road track. After walking a short distance on the road, the route dives into the forest following forest paths. In the final section, the trail approaches Pöyhiönniemi road, but stays on the forest side and descends towards the marina and the starting point.

It is safest to move in groups in the terrain and on the water if you are not familiar with the area. Before the trip, it is good to obtain the necessary maps and guides and especially when going on the water, check the weather forecasts. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. It is recommended to also bring first aid supplies, rainwear, spare clothes, and enough drinks, especially in summer. Remember to wear a life jacket on the water.
In wet weather and winter, boardwalks, rocks, and piers can be slippery.
Routes and trails are not maintained in snowy conditions.

From Joutseno center and main road 6 towards Honkalahti, follow the signs for Joutseno Institute and then the marina. The nature trail is south of the marina area.

Cars can be parked at the marina, near the carpet washing place.
