The Festival bike route on the west shore of Lake Neusiedl connects some of the most beautiful places in Burgenland and combines cultural highlights with appealing wine and culinary experiences. Along the way, you will encounter the picturesque old town of Rust with its baroque townhouses, can take a behind-the-scenes look at the festival venues in Mörbisch am See and St. Margarethen, and admire the magnificent Esterházy Palace in the Haydn metropolis Eisenstadt. Gourmet delights await at Taubenkobel in Schützen, at the Wine Academy Rust, and at the Castle Vinothek Eisenstadt. Quiet culture lovers will likely enjoy alternative options – such as the program at Cselley Mill Oslip or the “Place of Freedom,” which once wrote European history.

This variant of the Festival bike route represents a small partial loop of the Festival bike route.
The partial loop/variant runs from Rust to St. Margarethen (St. Margarethen quarry) and to Trausdorf. Via Oslip and Oggau (from here B10) it goes back to Rust.
Other variants are:
Partial loop/variant 1: Donnerskirchen - Oggau - Oslip - Schützen - Donnerskirchen
Partial loop/variant 3: Mörbisch - St. Margarethen - Rust - Mörbisch
Partial loop/variant 4: Eisenstadt - Schützen - Oslip - Trausdorf – Eisenstadt
Since many bike paths are agricultural access roads, agricultural traffic should be expected there. Mutual consideration ensures that these paths remain pleasant and usable for everyone.
Austria: Bicycle helmet is mandatory for children up to 12 years. Reflective vests are not mandatory at dusk, darkness or poor visibility but are certainly beneficial. Here is the Austrian cycling regulation.
Slovakia: Bicycle helmet is mandatory for all children under 15 years. For adults, helmet use is mandatory only outside urban areas. It is however strongly recommended that adults always wear a bicycle helmet. Cyclists riding on road edges under reduced visibility must wear visible signaling elements or a reflective vest.
Hungary: There is no helmet requirement for cyclists. The maximum speed for cyclists outside built-up areas is 40 km/h. A speed of 50 km/h is allowed if the cyclist wears a helmet. At night and in poor visibility, all cyclists must wear a reflective vest.
Travel documents: Valid identity card or passport is mandatory!
