The family-friendly bike tour starts in Purbach, a charming wine town on Lake Neusiedl. Right at the beginning, the route leads on flat, well-developed bike paths through the gentle vineyards of the region....
Then it continues through open meadow landscapes and quiet paths to Winden, where there are nice photo spots and small rest opportunities. The route is mostly flat, making it especially suitable for families with children. Along the way, wonderful views open up repeatedly over Lake Neusiedl and the surrounding vineyards.
Upon arriving in Jois, the town offers cozy places to linger and a beautiful view of the lakeshore landscape. The entire route is about 22 kilometers long, which makes it ideal as a day trip for young and old alike. Playgrounds, shady rest areas, and quiet sections ensure that breaks can be taken at any time.
This way the tour combines relaxed cycling, nature experience, and small culinary stops and is perfect for a varied family excursion.

There are plenty of rest stops along the route.

Arrival by public transport – convenient and family-friendly:
The bike tour around Purbach is optimally connected to the public transport network. The Purbach am Neusiedler See station lies on the Vienna – Neusiedl – Eisenstadt – Wulkaprodersdorf railway line and is regularly accessible by regional trains – even on weekends. Bicycle transport is possible on most trains (bike ticket required), and children’s trailers or child bikes can also be transported if there is enough space.
From the station, you can reach the signposted bike route in a few minutes. Since the tour ends again in Purbach – only a few walking or driving minutes from the station – the train is especially suitable for families who want to travel car-free.
During holiday seasons or on weekends, early arrival is recommended as bike spaces on trains are limited. The current timetable information and details on bike transport are provided by the ÖBB app or website.
Parking at Purbach Station – info for families with cars:
Directly at the Purbach am Neusiedler See station, free parking spaces are generally available, suitable for families arriving by car who want to start their bike tour from there. The parking spaces are unguarded but easily accessible and only a few minutes from the station and the bike paths.
Especially on weekends and in good weather, it can get crowded, so it is advisable to arrive early to secure a parking spot.
Additional parking options are also available at the stations in Breitenbrunn and Jois.

Start early to avoid the midday heat, bring enough water, and pack a binoculars or magnifying glass if needed – there is much to discover on the way, from vineyard snails to rare birds. The good train connection also makes it possible to shorten the tour if needed or plan flexibly.
