The Blaufränkischland Marathon takes you on a 42-kilometer route, starting in the red-wine-producing town of Deutschkreutz and passing through the wine-growing villages of Neckenmarkt, Horitschon, Unterpetersdorf,...
At numerous refreshment stations along the marathon route, you’ll have the opportunity to taste the excellent wines from local winemakers and enjoy regional delicacies and specialties. Mineral water, still water, and grape juice are also available. Most of the tasting stations are located at wineries in the respective local areas; many of them feature charming courtyards, elegant tasting rooms, or beautiful terraces with scenic views. Some tasting stations are also situated in the middle of the vineyards in picturesque locations. Don’t miss the chance to take a short break here with a good glass of wine!
On the longer stretches between towns, additional traditional refreshment stations will provide you with still water and sports drinks, ensuring that everyone—from those chasing personal bests to fun-runners and leisure runners—gets their money’s worth at the Blaufränkischland Marathon!

Hot and cold dishes—typical Burgenland specialties—make up the culinary offerings. Additional refreshment stations with water and sports drinks ensure adequate hydration. Wine tastings, grape juice, water, and the culinary offerings at the refreshment stations are included in the price of your entry.
Sportswear and appropriate footwear; costumes are encouraged. The most original, funniest, or most creative costumes will be selected by a jury and rewarded with attractive prizes.

There are hourly direct trains from Vienna and Wiener Neustadt to the Deutschkreutz train station.

Getting there by public transportation: There are hourly direct connections from Vienna and Wiener Neustadt to the Deutschkreutz train station. From there, it’s about a 1.2-kilometer walk (14-minute walk) to the start/finish area in front of the Europaschule Deutschkreutz.
