Blaufränkischland Marathon - Half Marathon (20.9 km)

The half marathon takes you out of the town of Deutschkreutz and up into the “Alte Weingebirge” region. Not only are the oldest and finest vineyards of Deutschkreutz located here, but the magnificent views—stretching west to the Schneeberg and east all the way to Lake Neusiedl—make this region truly special. Passing Deutschkreutz Castle and the outdoor pool, you’ll run through flat fields to the Girm district. A final climb takes you up to the imposing wine chateau before you tackle the last few kilometers to the finish line, accompanied by a wonderful view of the surrounding area.

Along the route, numerous refreshment stations cater to the participants’ physical well-being. Here you can sample the excellent wines from local vintners. Grape juice, mineral water, and still water are also available. In the cozy courtyards, elegant tasting rooms, or on the beautiful viewing terraces of the wineries, culinary delights and regional specialties also await to refuel you. Most refreshment stations are located at the respective wineries within the town or on the outskirts of Deutschkreutz and Girm. Some refreshment stations are situated in the middle of the vineyards with fantastic views, which are best enjoyed during a short break with a good glass of wine. Along the route outside the town limits, you’ll also find standard refreshment stations with still water and sports drinks to ensure you stay properly hydrated.
