Parking spaces and bus stop are located at the Tourist Information Gaienhofen, where you are already greeted by the first celebrity: Here stands the "Dix Curve", a sculpture by artist Peter Lenk from the work "Großstadttriptychon" by Otto Dix. Passing the "Birds of Paradise" you reach the Kapellenstraße leading to the Hesse Museum Gaienhofen, where the writer Hermann Hesse lived from 1904 to 1907. Below the museum, a footpath descends to the main street, which you follow for about 200 m, then turn right into Schweizerhalde, which leads into Erlenlohweg. After a few meters uphill, turn left into Hermann-Hesse-Weg, where on the left is the Mia and Hermann Hesse House. This was inhabited by the Hesse family from 1907 to 1912 and is today only accessible as part of guided tours. At the end of Hermann-Hesse-Weg, follow a footpath to Hemmenhofen. At the end, go down Curth-Georg-Becker-Weg and then turn right into the side street Im Baumgarten, then go right and immediately left into Häslisacker. Follow the Alten Weg down to the main street. Then turn right, past the Erich Heckel art stele. At the beginning of Walter-Kaesbach-Weg, turn left into Otto-Dix-Weg, where you enter through the gate and park to the Museum House Dix. Going downhill again, cross the main street and continue via Kirchsteig to Uferstraße. Walking along the shore on the left, you pass the Hotel Hoeri and reach the landing stage. There is time for a lunch break. The scheduled ship departs at 1:57 PM for Mannenbach. After the signposted ascent to the Napoleon Museum Schloss Arenenberg, at 3 PM you learn during a guided tour how Hortense lived with her son Louis, who later became Napoleon III., the last emperor of France. After a last view from one of the most beautiful viewpoints on Lake Constance, Arenenberger Straße leads down to Mannenbach. Here you cross the main street and follow the Via Rhenana on the left always close to the shore towards Berlingen. About in the center of Berlingen, turn right from Via Rhenana into Bachstraße and follow this to Seestraße. Turn left here and after a few meters on the right you reach Adolf Dietrich House, which is only open on weekends. Outside opening hours, only the garden can be visited. Back on Seestraße, the path leads left past the church over the lakeside promenade to the ship landing stage, where the scheduled ship brings you back to Gaienhofen at 5:50 PM.
