Starting at the ZOB, this route takes us past Hirsau Monastery to the spa town of Bad Liebenzell. Through the Lengenbach valley with some views back into the Nagold valley, we reach the height near Oberlengenhardt and ride towards the Himmelsglück observation tower. Those with time and interest can make a short detour to the observation tower—it’s worth it!
Afterwards, we follow the Calmbächle down into the Enz valley. We stay in the valley for a short distance before taking the gentle, steadily climbing ascent to Würzbach. Once back on the Enz-Nagold plateau, we cycle via Altburg and Spindlershof into the Schweinbach valley. Here too, the Schweinbach, an idyllic Black Forest stream, rushes beside us as we descend to Hirsau. A short stretch on the Nagold valley bike path, and then we’re back at the starting point of the small town gem Calw.
The route follows the signposted cycling network of the district. A suitable map is available for €3.50 at numerous bike shops and town halls in the region or from the Nördlicher Schwarzwald tourism company.
This route is fun with a gravel bike or a trekking bike, with many gravel sections.
The Kulturbahn runs between Pforzheim and Horb or Tübingen and stops at the ZOB in Calw.
Several parking garages in the city center or the old train station are available for parking.
Information about parking can be found here.
On the ascent to Würzbach, a stop at the Calmbach trout farm is recommended, where delicious Black Forest specialties await.
