BLATTEN BEI NATERS - HOLZJI - BELALP

The hike starts at the Blatten bei Naters cable car stop. Follow the signpost towards "Egga" and cross the road after a short ascent. Then continue towards Rischinu and then on to Egga. At the beginning here, turn right and pass the mountain guide's hut. Soon you will have left the last houses of Egga behind and be on the hiking trail towards Holzji.

The highlight is to observe wildlife from the Holzji wildlife observation post. Then continue through the forest to a clearing from which you can enjoy a unique view of the Great Aletsch Glacier. Afterwards, the path leads to the Aletschbord, your destination with panoramic views of the Valais mountains and the Great Aletsch Glacier.

Sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, sun and rain protection, as well as a sufficient supply of food and drinks should be carried in case there are no opportunities to stop or buy along the way. Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons you should always have a suitable hiking map with you. Take poles or other aids with you.

Despite the "unmistakable" marking of the hiking trails, we recommend that you always have an appropriate hiking map for safety reasons, so that you can quickly find a safe area in case of a thunderstorm or emergency.

Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After storms, trees may still fall or branches drop. Under adverse weather conditions, natural paths can be muddy and slippery. You should expect such path impairments when hiking.

Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Sometimes surefootedness is required. If you feel that certain sections are not passable for you, you should avoid them.

Blatten bei Naters

From Brig you reach Blatten bei Naters via Naters, then continue with the cable car to the car-free Belalp.

Naters

Take the post bus or the local bus (line 1) from Brig to Naters marketplace and start your route there.

You can also start your route by walking from Brig directly through Naters.

Blatten-Belalp

Blatten bei Naters is accessible from Brig or Naters by public transport.

You can reach Belalp from Blatten by cable car.
